Lucknow Mahotsav : A tribute to the great Cultural Heritage

Monday, November 24th, 2008

Its November 2008 and its time to recreate the magic that some of the greatest artists have created. In simple words its time to gather and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of one of the most traditional and   ancient cities of India.

Located in what was historically known as the Awadh region, Lucknow has always been a multicultural city. Courtly manners, beautiful gardens, poetry, music, and fine cuisine patronized by the Persian-loving Shia Nawabs of the city are well known amongst Indians and students of South Asian culture and history. Lucknow is popularly known as the The City of Nawabs. It is also known as the Golden City of the East, Shiraz-i-Hind and The Constantinople of India.

Every year Lucknow celebrates its traditions and values. Few people know about the Cultural Values and immense talent that Lucknow has. This celebration is an insight into what is known as one of the most respected and mannered cities in the world.

Each year a host of well renowed people from different walks of life, from arts and entertainment and other professions gather to celebrate the spirit of Lucknow.

Then begins a saga of events which not only reminds us of our Roots but also helps in Bridging the Communal gaps.

Year 2008 will also witness something like this when a host of artists and great people will come together and recreate the magic.

We all hope that this time everything will go very well and certainly help to refresh the memories of Lucknow.
